Disaster Recovery Centers

There are two locations where Angelenos who were impacted by the fires can receive help navigating City, County, State and Federal assistance programs and services, including:

Evacuation area Re-Entry Passes for Palisades residents and authorized contractors.
Help with the FEMA Individual Assistance application process.
Lost vital records, such as birth certificates, death certificates, driver’s licenses and social security documentation.
Disaster relief for people with homes and businesses lost or damaged by the fire.
Referrals for mental health counseling and other services.
Animal Services.
LA County Assessor for temporary property tax relief for calamity situations.
California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
California Franchise Tax Board: help with tax refunds for disaster loss.

Disaster Recovery Centers are open Monday-Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM.

Donations are NOT accepted at Disaster Recovery Centers. Visit the BU for information on how to support the survivors and emergency responders impacted by wildfires.

Financial Assistance

The LA Disaster Relief Navigator

The LA Disaster Relief Navigator was developed by Better Angels and Imagine LA – in partnership with the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles and the Office of Mayor Karen Bass – to provide tailored recovery resources for all impacted Angelenos. The online tool asks personalized questions to create individual Disaster Action Plans that connect residents to government programs, insurance assistance, home damage remediation, temporary and permanent housing solutions, and community services.

Mortgage relief

Get mortgage relief for structures damaged or destroyed by the LA fires. The state worked with major lenders to offer this relief. Over 400 lenders committed to:

Reduce or pause mortgage payments for 90 days
Waive late fees for 90 days
Protect owners from new foreclosures or evictions for 60 days
Not report late payments to credit agencies

You must contact your mortgage lender to get relief. It does not happen automatically.

Property Taxes

You may be eligible for tax relief if your property was damaged or destroyed by the wildfires. Visit the Los Angeles County Assessor site to learn more.

To qualify, the damage to the property must exceed $10,000 of current market value and an Application for Reassessment: Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity (Form ADS-820) must be filed with the Assessor’s Office within 12 months from the date the property was damaged or destroyed. Assist in screening and applying for income support programs
Assess for emergency shelter and rental assistance
Assist with filing taxes and claiming up to $10,000 in tax credits
Access to food, transportation, and other basic needs
Referrals to immigration services

YOUTH SERVICES

Help applying for part-time jobs
Youth educational services
Guidance in accessing mental health resources
Support in finding after-school activities

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Job placement and job training
Offer supportive services, such as clothing, union dues, and transportation
Access to temporary employment at $25-$27 per hour for 600 hours
Up to $2,000 available in relief funds

Bilingual assistance for business permits
Financial advice for recovery
Business management and growth workshops
Grants available from $2,000 to $25,000

The LA City Office of Finance

The LA City Office of Finance announced all business locations within zip codes 90402, 90272 and 90049 will be automatically granted an extension of the business tax renewal deadline to April 14, 2025. Additional information for people and businesses directly impacted by wildfires includes:

The Small Business Administration offers a number of resources to support small businesses and entrepreneurs, including financing, training, and more.

Emergency and disaster assistance for employers

Emergency and disaster assistance for employers from the California Employment Development Department (EDD) offering services to support employers impacted by disasters. This includes disaster relief payments, extensions for payments, and payroll reports.

Resources and steps for business recovery

Resources and steps for business recovery from the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) offering resources and support for businesses and workers impacted by the wildfires. This includes financial help, recovery programs, and workforce support.

Renter Protection

Protection from eviction

The LA County Board of Supervisors and City of LA have prohibited evictions for tenants who qualify. This protection lasts through July 31, 2025. You are eligible if you lost wages because:

The wildfires destroyed your workplace or rendered it unusable, or
Your employer laid you off or reduced your working hours, or
You had clients located in the wildfires, so you lost income.

Tenants are also protected from evictions for renovations through this date.

If you need eviction protection in the City or County of Los Angeles, you must notify your landlord. Send a Notice to Landlord of Inability to Pay Rent (PDF).

Free mediation

The Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) offers free mediation services. They help tenants and landlords work out a payment plan. Call (800) 593-8222 to learn more.
